Key Staff
N. Richard Friedman, Chairman.
Mr. Friedman directs strategic business assessments, advises energy
companies on customer marketing strategies, and identifies opportunities
for new business development ventures. He is a nationally-recognized
expert on commercial and industrial energy use, and over the last
3 decades has written and lectured extensively on the application
of electrotechnologies to process operations, customer power generation,
distributed generation and cogeneration, and innovative approaches
to product and service marketing. Mr. Friedman has a Master in Engineering
Administration from the George Washington University and a BS in
Electrical Engineering from the Moore School at the University of
Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and
Electronic Engineers and the Association of Energy Engineers.
Paul Lemar, President.
Mr. Lemar manages projects to develop and support marketing strategies
for utility retail operations, energy service companies, equipment
manufacturers, and customer groups. He is currently advising a group
of small businesses on aggregation issues and opportunities. Mr.
Lemar has over 15 years of experience in advising business customers
and utilities in managing energy use, assessing new energy technology,
and developing strategic plans. He provides utilities with assistance
in developing marketing programs for customer groups ranging from
large industrials to small businesses such as auto body shops and
dry cleaners, and applies financing as a strategic asset for many
of these customers. Mr. Lemar holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering
and a MBA, both from the University of Maryland.
Paul Sheaffer, Director of Technology Analysis and Deployment.
He has a broad background in distributed generation, manufacturing,
analysis, design and database systems. He currently manages projects
focusing on new business opportunities associated with existing
and emerging technology applications, compressed air and other motor
systems, and has advised clients on new manufacturing technologies
and industrial process improvement programs. Mr. Sheaffer has hands
on design experience with industrial automation components. Mr.
Sheaffer has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic
and State University and a Master in Engineering Management from
the George Washington University.
E.J. Honton, Director of Strategic Business Development.
Mr. Honton manages the operations of our Portland, OR office, and
has over 20 years experience developing methodologies for cost-effectively
solving complex business problems. His emphasis has been on forecasting
and modeling various aspects of energy businesses, and he has conducted
extensive market analysis of the economic impact of technology on
business operations. He recently led a major effort to apply technology
roadmapping techniques to the development of an industry-wide, multi-year
R&D program. Over the last couple years he has worked on risk management
in the changing electric power industry, helping clients integrate
their trading and risk management functions. Mr. Honton received
a BS in Civil Engineering and a MA in Economics from The Ohio State
University.
David High, Principal.
Mr. High is a leading expert on retail electric marketing. Formerly
Marketing Vice President in General Public Utilities, he now provides
advice on marketing programs to utilities throughout North America.
He directs much of the firm's efforts in helping utilities maximize
profits in existing markets and position themselves in new markets.
Author of The Missing Link, a practical guide to dealing with organizational
change where people are a critical asset, Mr. High helps energy
companies and other organizations deal with newly competitive markets.
Mr. High has a BS in Electrotechnology from the Pennsylvania State
University with additional studies in marketing.
